Anjiro Initiative welcomes Leah Duran to the Board of Directors

Anjiro Initiative is pleased to announce the appointment of Leah Duran as incoming Anjiro Initiative Board Member. As a member of the Anjiro Initiative Board of Directors, Leah will oversee U.S. partnerships and grants.

Leah brings a wealth of experience and a multifaceted background in journalism, government, nonprofit work, and philanthropy to Anjiro Initiative. She is currently the Communications Director for Science at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), where she uses strategic communications to support CZI’s mission to build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone. Previously, Leah served as Public Affairs Specialist and Acting Deputy Press Secretary for the U.S. Department of the Interior under Secretary Sally Jewell, Senior Manager of Development Communications at Conservation International, and a National Park Service ranger across the West.

“I am dedicated to driving positive change through effective communication strategies and meaningful partnerships and am excited to contribute my skills to advancing education for students in Madagascar,” said Duran. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Arizona State University’s Cronkite School and a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability from Harvard University Extension School. Leah currently resides in Santa Cruz, CA.
